  1. And the fact that you have to pull the trigger to advance the cylinder. Not a well thought out design. ETA: Make sure the spring is fully wound, place gun on safe prior to pulling the trigger. Do all of this, of course, while pointing firearm in a safe direction.
  2. It’s Swedish as Chris stated. Ohio Ord uses them in their A3’s. I drilled out the FP hole to use GI firing pins as they are thicker and won’t snap off as easily as the Swede ones do.
  3. The other marking looks like a partial RLB (Roy L Bowlin) inspection stamp.
  4. I got a copy of this great book a couple of months ago. Amazing research and chock full o’ pictures. A must have for Uzi owners.
  5. I work in the area. The devastation is unreal, from Corpus Christi to the Louisiana border. There have been a small number of FFLs broken into or looted. Most have been pawn shops in crappy areas of town. ATF agents have been surveying local FFLs to determine the extent of stolen firearms. It's gonna be a long slog to get from under this.
  6. Came out early last week, if I recall correctly.
  7. HQ sent out a request for volunteers for a 90 day detail to the NFA Branch to work on the backlog. This and the new barcode venture with the Silencer Shop/Gemtech/Dead Air should get things moving. Fingers crossed.
  8. Per the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986, all manufacture of new machineguns for the civilian market ceased. The machineguns that were registered at the time are the only guns available for transfer to non-licensees. Licensed manufacturers can make machineguns but only as sales samples, export, or for government use. I look at transferrable machineguns the same as owners of American cars in Cuba. There are only so many and we as owners continue to buy/sell/trade and repair the ones in existence as no more are being made. As stated above, start saving your pennies. Prices are not going down and more and more people are getting interested in owning machineguns. Greg
  9. Looks like that info is about 10 years old. Many of the issues have been addressed such as online request forms for agents/IOI's, better access to the NFRTR in the field, etc. But some issues have not been remedied.
  10. In response to DukeNukem, my gun ran OK. It chugged along but the rear of the bolt was being chewed up by the spring as the original non-GI pilot was crooked. I also wanted a quick change barrel system done as I shoot both live and blank ammunition. Paul was the logical choice as he knows the TSMG inside and out. I forgot to add in my original post that he also refinished the metal and installed an original Lyman rear sight.
  11. I have to agree with johnsonlmg41. I have personally arranged the donation of about a dozen unregistered machineguns to museums over my 25 year career at ATF. I have also assisted in the sale of other registered guns from estates as to not have them taken into our custody. Have I seen some really nice guns get destroyed? I have. I have seen some older machineguns that were in our inventory destroyed as there was no longer a need for them. Most were 40's-50's dated sub guns that we could not use for undercover operations because they were not in demand by the criminal element. As stated above, people need to make arrangements for the disposal of their guns. All gun owners should have a will, trust or other instrument to pass on their firearm collection, however big or small.
  12. My WH (1562A) has a 1980 born on date. It went to PK's Thompson Spa for rehabilitation. My gun had slop between the receiver and the trigger frame, locking slots were out of spec, stock slide was very loose and sloppy, and had non GI parts on/in it. Paul did his magic and it hasn't failed me since it was returned. I shoot live and blanks and it eats everything I feed it. The only things I've had to replace since its return was a broken extractor and the buffer. Paul's buffer are the best out there. Every '28 owner should have one (or 2).
  13. I thought Polish troops when I saw the badge on the overseas cap. The SMG on the right looks to be a Beretta of some sort.
  14. David and all, My suggestion is to continue to do your research into how the guns came into existence, how many were made and how they were presented, given away, sold etc, and their inherent collectability and then submit your findings to ATF so they can be added to the C&R list in Section III, Weapons Removed from the NFA as Collector's Items and Classified as Curio or Relics under the GCA. You are on the right track with showing how they were never assembled with the select fire parts. It's worth a shot.
  15. I've got one of Paul's in my WH28. Superior to the 2 piece junk that came with the gun.
  16. I know him. Send me a PM with your contact info and I'll pass it on.
  17. I find it more 'natural' to cant the gun with the left side up and the buttstock pinned between my arm and side when I reload. My left thumb pushes up on the mag catch and I withdraw the mag. The new mag goes in the same way but I don't have to touch the mag catch to get any of my mags to seat. Firm upward pressure gets the job done.
  18. Ya put a silly grin on my face with that one!
  19. Shorter barrel than the usual ones we see. Very nice condition.
  20. I've got three 12 rounders if you're interested.
  21. Greetings from the Houston area! Welcome aboard.
  22. I had to do this for a Handy-Gun I purchased a couple of years ago. A copy of the death cert was all I needed and I was not part of the family or named in any will. Letters of Administration is also a good thing to submit.
