OK Guys if I figured this out right here is some of my stuff. All C&R weapons, live and ready to rock. MP40 AYF41 early Erma with transitional features (hook bolt handle, MP38 style front sight hood with hook for cover), FXO MP44 1945, Steyr MP34, Jap Type 99 rechambered to .308, 1928A1 Thompson and the AYF Erma 1941 MP40. If the pictures aren't there I'll feel stupid. Also, remember, this is my hobby and collection, NOT MY PHILOSOPHY.

Hawk, very, very, very, nice! What a great collection! I wish it was mine! Man, the aluminium resting bar really stands out on your mp40! By the way, What's the 99 like to shoot? and what magazines do you use in it? (or was the 7.7 close enough to .308 to work?) well, i am very jealous now! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif Thanks! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

Thanks, MP40. I've been working on the collection for a while

The Type 99 is very enjoyable shooting, recoil is not too bad since it weighs 23 lbs and it spits em out at about 750rpm. Very accurate. Only problem is keeping it fed. That's actually a US M14 20 round mag in the picture, but normally I use modified German MG13 mags. An original T-99 mag will work with .308's I heard, wish I had an original mag for it. Maybe someday. Happy Holidays!

Was the.308 conversion expensive? it's cool to see a shootable type 99! and, do you get to shoot the mp40 and the rest of the collection much?

It was .308 when I got it so I don't know the cost. I shot the 40 last weekend, first time in a while for any of them. I try to keep them as active as I can which is not often enough. I have a different bolt, recoil tube, and barrel for the 40 when I shoot, cause I don't want to take any chances since it all matches. I have a few M1 & M1A1 carbines that I shoot more regularly.

Jerry,

I have been to Birch Run before, but not for a year or so. I would have liked to have seen the collection there.

Hawk,

Yeah, it was quite surprising to see his collection there, it's not usually that kind of show.

He had a MP40, MP43, Sten MK II, ZB26, Type 99, and another MG I did not recognize (it

had a horizontal drum, but it wasn't a 180). He was very friendly and let people hold the

weapons, I held the MP43 for the longest time (I didn't want to put it down), and he even

let my son, who is only 7, hold the MP40. He was very talkative and chatted with us and

many other people for quite a long time. It was definitely the highlight of the week for

both my son and I.

I told him about about the forum, which he did not seem to know about. With similar guns,

and with your timing joining the boards, I thought you might have been him, sorry about that.

Thanks for sharing the pictures, you have a great collection.

Take care,

Jerry

Hi All,

Just thought i would show my slab side MP.40.

It is a bnz.42. Serial # 3599

Unfortunatly not all matching numbers. Other wise excellent condition with 90% original bluing and original sling.

Deactivated according to U.K. regulations.

Old spec. all moving parts and fully stripable.

I bought this one three years ago, at the anual Beltring militaria show in Kent, for £875.00

Hope you like it.............

Regards,

Steve.

Hi Steve, Thank you for posting those very nice pictures of your mp! Your mp looks as if (well, at least i can't quite see clearly enough to tell) it was not modified for the late push-pull saftey i think that it would look cool if it had the original hook type cocking handle...That is a very nice example of an mp40! Seeing this nice mp40 and thinking that it will possibly never fire again, kind of depresses me..But however, it is still complete! And you are able to own it instead of just a pile of parts like we are forced to own here! Unless, we are lucky to be in the right place and the right time and have the wherewithal and the money! Again, Thank you for posting the pictures!

Hawk...what a beautiful firearm. Your Erman MP is actually quite a pretty looking weapon.

Can't wait to get thru all the hoops and take delivery of my bnz 43.

Hi Hawk,

That is an awsome looking AYF. Looks like it just came from the factory......!!!!

And you shoot it......? Fantastic.....

Is the clip infront of the forsight for the attatchment of a muzzle cap?

My slab-side has that also.......

The MP.34 is nice too, I have often thought of buying one of those.

Regarding deactivation here in the U.K.......Here is what has to be done, it is not very nice to read..........

The breech is pluged and welded and the breech block/firering pin are gound back so that a round cannot be picked up and pushed into the breech........

Not to bad really when you compare that to what has to be done post 1995.........

Now all sub-guns have to be welded up completly....the barrel is pluged, the breech-block is welded shut and even the mag is welded in............!!!!!

And i saw one one these 'new spec' deacs for sale today........the dealer was asking £970.00...........!!!!!!!! What a rip-off.........!!

You can just see the plug in the breech of my slab-side pic.

Hi MP.40,

My slab-side has the push/pull safety/cocking handle and it has 'ayf' stamped on the end.

Best regards to all,

Steve.

Got one. Always a favorite. Mine is a bnz43. Late style one piece lower. Original matching SN C&R gun. Supposedly came out of the Winchester museum several years back as evidenced by an inventory tag marked "W 12" stuck on the left side of the bakelite. Haven't done solid research to confirm this, but that tag matches those found on other confirmed guns out of the Winch museum. It's 85% with a lot of blue turned brown. The blue on the inside looks like it was done yesterday. Got a nice piece of bakelite (without the tag) for display purposes. Found an original recoil spring assembly and an early hooked cocking handle bolt to shoot in it, preserving the originals. Stock is nice and tight. Not as nice as my MP44, but what ya gonna do.

It's a dream to shoot. Just sits there. What a sight picture http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif I'll do some photos after the holidays.

Got some original pouches. An early set faded tan all web metal tabbed, and a 1943 green web with the red thread running trough the material.

When I was in a class III partnership in the late 1980's, we had several Wilson tube guns come through at $800- 900 each. I held out for a real one. Finally found one and had money in hand in 1994. It was in a Shotgun News ad for $2300. It's the bnz43 I described above.

You guys have some cool stuff! Mine stuff is kind-a-crappy but works and rents at the shoots!

A buddy of mine was a German POW after he was shot down and spent a couple years at one of their "summer camps". He brought some stuff back gave it to me and got me started in collecting WWII german stuff. Most of it I got rid of but I still have some left... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Bob,

Very nice collection! The BNZ looks like it has seen some action and the twin MG42's are too much! Nicely done.
