Robert Henley
There was a recent discussion on the magazine import law at this Board thread: http://www.machinegunboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22769&hl=%2Bmagazines+%2Bimport&do=findComment&comment=201151 My understanding of it was there was an exemption if the wholesale value was less than $100?? However, I'm not sure, so will be interesting to see responses of those more knowledgeable.

Normal1959
Interesting link. I have purchased items form Germany in the past. There were no problems. There are never any problems unless they catch you importing them. Now that is NOT according to me. My importer friend told me that. I asked him if there was a dollar limit and he said he didn't know that one.Eric
TSMGguy
Better ask Zib. There are many things for sale within the EU, but not to the US. They recently had an original Astra Condor 800 magazine in nice shape and for a good price, but they wouldn't sell it to me. Merry Ploughboy
When was it (2006 or so ?) that Sportsmans Guide (SG) some how got wind of a bunch of WWII Thompson L drums somewhere in Europe. SG took advance orders but apparently could never figure out a way to get the drums out of the European country and into the U.S.

All the magazines received, both XX & XXX, were AO, Seymour, with one Crosby XXX. So perhaps the photos shown on website are not representative of their actual stock. I also ordered some in 'wax paper', but they arrived unwrapped, but in like new condition all the same. Stay safeRichard

Very short story, he got caught. Customs found a EG lable on one of the crates and seized them. He fought it and in the meantime had to pay bonded storage in Philadelphia, legal fees, interest on the credit line and finally lost. Went bankrupt over that deal..…………………... Don't ever try to transship.Eric
Black River Militaria CII
State Dept will not sign off on any export from Russia without proof it was made prior to 1917, and not under USSR control. Tried on several very unusual items, but no go. New EU rules have everyone scared, too. Too bad.
Mike Hammer
In January I paid for a mauser Schnelfuer 712 10 round detachable mag in England. It got as far as customs in Chicago on Jan 18 and I haven't heard a word since and the tracking number hasn't been scanned any further. I assume now, that I should of had some kind of import paperwork with it. I have tried a search through USPS and they tell me what I already know. The U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection, (CBP) does not track packages into or out of The International Sorting Center (USPS). I do think that I was supposed to notified by CBC that my package was detained for lack documentation but they have not contacted me and unless they do I will never receive the package, it also has not been returned to the sender in England. So I know there's got to be someone here that knows what importation paperwork you must fill out to get stick mags into the U.S. I mean they ARE coming in? huggytree
A ffl imported 15+ mp40 kits last year. He bought them functional and had the barrels and receivers cut. Then imported them and sold the kits for $2300 I grabbed one and a forum member grabbed another. I cant remember what European country they came from anymore. The ffl was in FL If he could do that, why cant a dealer buy those mags and bring them in? On the stemple Facebook page a guy brought in 50+ Suomi coffin mags last year. benedw60
Theres loopholes that allow you to bring in kits as long as the barrel and receiver are properly demilled, that goes under the trade secret category
john
So just import the drums and add a note in the demil section that the offending and illegal guns have all been removed from the magazines!

MHMike, I had the same problem with Chicago customs a few years ago. I googled up a number (don't have it any more) and spoke to a nice lady who found the package, I gave her the tiny bit of info that she needed to advance it's status and a few days later I had it. It could have sat there for years if I didn't call. It's worth a try. If not at least you know that it's a dead deal.
