However buying this book can make you somebody with improved knowledge of the Thompson in Britain which if far better than knowing when your friends are going to the bathroom. TD.
It has been awhile since this thread has been at the top of the Board so I am going to give it a bump. Sales in 2015 exceeded all my expectations.I appreciate everyone on this Board that has made this book a success. Over the last year I have established a good cadre of gun show booksellers. However, I am always looking to add new sellers. If you attend gun shows in your area and notice the bookseller does not have my book on the table, please obtain a name and contact information and send me a PM. I offer great dealer pricing including delivery. The Internet has greatly reduced the number of gun show book sellers - but they are still out there. Unfortunately, there is no master list. I have to locate them one at a time. Again, thank you! TD.
ron_brock
Tom, Your book was sitting on the table at Michigan Antique Arms. I spoke to the dealer and was glad he was able to make contact with you. Ron
rpbcps
This is another well read book that is on my book shelf. From the knowledge gained from this book, I was able to identify that my deactivated Bridgeport address Model of 1928 was part of 3rd consignment of Thompsons shipped to Britain. The New York address Model of 1928, that I am hoping to receive in the near future, I have already identified as being part of the 1st consignment of Thompsons that was shipped to be Britain in April 1940. Without this book, I would not have been any the wiser :-) Stay safeRichard

TD.
It has been awhile since this has been at the top so I am going to give it a bump so the newest members of the Forum can take a look. It makes an excellent Christmas present for that Thompson enthusiast that has (or wants) everything Thompson. I noticed Amazon.com has some great Christmas pricing, including a "Look Inside" view that lets customers see and read some of the pages. Shipping is reasonably priced and delivery can be made prior to Christmas. I have included the link below and encourage everyone to take a look. https://www.amazon.com/Great-Britain-Tommy-Gun-Story/dp/1502977818/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481688977&sr=8-1&keywords=great+britain+-+the+tommy+gun+story A special thank you and Merry Christmas to everyone on this Forum that has made Great Britain - The Tommy Gun Story a success! TD.
The Christmas season is upon us so I am going to bump this back to the top for the many new members that have joined the Forum since last December. Amazon.com has some great pricing and a "Look Inside" view that will allow interested readers to take a peak at the contents prior to purchase. I have a few copies that I can sign and personalize for $25 apiece including Media Mail shipping. It makes for an excellent Christmas present for that Thompson enthusiast difficult to buy for! Send me a PM for payment information if interested. I am very appreciative of the kind remarks and reviews for Great Britain - The Tommy Gun Story. It remains the authority on the Thompson gun in Great Britain during World War II. Thank you. https://www.amazon.com/Great-Britain-Tommy-Gun-Story/dp/1502977818/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481688977&sr=8-1&keywords=great+britain+-+the+tommy+gun+story
John Dillinger
I've had this book for a few weeks now and I must say that its an excellent piece of work by Tom Davis Jnr.It covers so much ground relating to the Thompson and having read a few publications on the subject this is one the best that I've come across.Sits nicely by American Thunder on my bookshelf. If you're into Tommy Guns buy Tom's book its well worth it. MG08
It is a nice book - Lots of good information. I got the book early on, and it sits in the group with my other TSMG reference material.... If you are going to be interested in the Thompson- you need all the reference material you can get. this is a must have .It will be interesting to see if more Thompson data comes out of the National archives as people research it. TD.
I appreciate all the kind words about, Great Britain - The Tommy Gun Story. It was an amazing experience working with James West for many months while researching and writing this story. I had over 25,000 words on paper before I realized there may actually be a book here. Not that I had ever written a book! It all started as needing some documentation from the National Archives to fully substantiate the production of the Model of 1928A by Savage Arms for a story I was writing for Small Arms Review (SAR) magazine. The information James found at the National Archives was simply amazing! Without his research, this book would not have been possible. If you are interested in the Savage Model of 1928A, there is actually a little more information on this very rare variation in the SAR magazine (3rd Quarter, Vol. 17, No. 3). I could not make GB-TTGS all about the Savage Model of 1928A. My initial website was supplied by CreateSpace, part of the Amazon.com company for print on demand books. CreateSpace was later absorbed by Kindle Publishing, again, part of Amazon.com, and the author's websites were discontinued. I do sell personalized copies for $25 plus $4.00 shipping. Contact me at: tkd5501@fuse.net for ordering information. I will have copies of both my books for sale at the upcoming All Thompson Show & Shoot.
john
Well.....Just received my copy of Tom's great book and have to say.....why did I wait so long?I guess I was thinking I'd let it slide as I don't own a Brit gun (yet) but with the Commando and Home Guard stuff I've collected, there is such a wealth of knowledge in this book I can't put the thing down! Not only is it really well-written but full of many images I've never seen before. So be it....but I have to say Thanks Tom, for the really wonderful book! Now back to my reading...... TD.
John,Thank you for the nice words about, Great Britain - The Tommy Gun Story. That book would not have been possible without Frank Iannamico starting this Board and David Albert later assuming control. This allowed me and James West to find each other and begin what ultimately ended with this book. James found the exact documentation that I needed at the National Archives for the Model of 1928A magazine story - and so much more. A book was never planned. It was a lot of fun working with James. It is hard to believe this book was published over 5 years ago. Sales are continuing via Amazon.com. I also offer personalized copies for sale. I noticed a great price on ebay recently from one of my booksellers. If you like the British history and the early Savage guns, I believe it would be a great addition to your library. I tried to couple the British orders with the Savage production figures published in Frank's American Thunder series. I did not publish the Savage production chart but refer to it often. If you have both books, and most do, you can get a feel for the production and delivery of the early guns, especially before the Lend-Lease Act. If you would like your copy personalized, bring it to one of the Thompson Shows and Shoots. .
john
Hey Tom.I think I first logged on to Frank's old boards back in 1999 as that's when I adopted my first Thompson.I recall the changes in software but the great content and knowledge from all the old timers is still here (although a few of the old regulars are less regular now and a couple absent).I've met Frank a few times (most recently at SAR last December) and as I have all his books, will dig Thunder out to make some comparisons. I really appreciate the information and comraderie of these boards and thanks to David too for not only keeping things going but keeping it all familiar. This version of software still feels like the original I recall and that, like a nice Thompson in-hand is comforting and familiar.Happy Father's Day, to all! john
