The1930sRust
All three of mine, which were lost in a boating incident, were stored fully assembled in the safe (that sank). I did have my Westy in a Herigstad viola case partially disassembled... R

colt21a
I keep them all over the u.s.a. in basements, safes under a mattress in closets and attics.in the garage. and maybe a kitchen cabinet. Because i sold them all.... so a probable place for all those owners today. Irv Kahn told mea story about 35 years old now. how he met a guy who had a new unfired one in a plastic tube sealed in a room. with a gas tank or some contraption. I figured the owner had to be this guy. And sure i really believed new unfired ever.it had 2 owners before him. they all have been fondled and handled over the decades some more some less. The new unfired has been well overplayed in the Thompson market for decades. heck the eastside guns on the ship new unfired. until they packed and stacked and fingerprinted in moisture.. show me the Irish!!! RON K. Ron,My example of an Eastside Thompson, but this one probably spent more time under the ground than above it, during its earlier life. This is how I usually store her, It is a deactivation, dewat, due to the firearms legislation on our side of the Atlantic. colt21a
I like that Irish Sword it oozes History of that era. And to me that is what Thompsons had been all about since the time i purchased my first till the last. That one sits over at Magpul {The owner} yep he likes Thompsons also. It never was about the bucks because i had over paid on many a item. Nobody cared it was not their bucks. I enjoyed it for well over 50 years. And started out on that quest way before many here did. And not that many before me. Heck When Bill Wrote the first tell all in 1969 most not born or playing with Mattels.I had met a few early guys from the 30's and the 40's. and by that time i looked and said hey these guys are old ha ha But took the time to listen and add to the history of it all. I miss everyone of those guns. But will go out knowing. I sold them.. Not some estate sale whore show. Or Widows sale of the $90.00 Luger tale. Funny but sad thing when Sparky {Roger Fullmer} was buried the Ottawa,il. Disaster. His last daughter One was killed in the explosion. She buried what was left of him what they found on scene his favorite Mauser M96 with stock. She mentioned to me Sparky loved the Thompson when he served in the Marines but later told her bury me with the Mauser. She did.And saw the casket sealed at the home, We all should be lucky to go thru life and meet many who had enjoyment in all of this.RON K. lightguy
For the M1's I take off the assembled uppers and put them in the safe. Lowers elsewhere.1921 and 1928 take off the stocks and store the uppers in the safe.Room is a big issue so anything that helps.BTW I put a coating of gun grease on all of of them.I really should convert a bedroom.Guests can pop up a cot between the racks. That'll make the wifey happy
MG08
I store them assembled. Sadly there was an earthquake, and a large chasm seems to have swallowed the entrance to my vault, and then they sank down the bluff into the river quick sand region. I am old and get confused on which one exactly..... so here are old photos. Luckily we did not lose the wine storage area. I have inherited a large liquor collection I will never drink, so if anyone wants to help kill a bottle to commiserate look me up. Sandman1957
Havent looked at this topic in awhile, regrets,Here's the stand (s) I made, Note the one on top of the bookcase was one I got from Gordon Herigstad. I only have one of these stands now. As I have sold guns over time the stands went with the guns.
